Barbara Lapini is an International Trade Specialist with the Trade Information Center of the U.S. Commercial Service.  She spent 11 years running the U.S. Commercial Service office in Florence, Italy before joining the Trade Information Center in 2008.  The publishing industry has long been part of Barbara’s portfolio. While overseas, she developed a successful program, in partnership with AEP, to provide export assistance to U.S. educational publishers at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.  Barbara was a founding member of the U.S. Commercial Service’s Publishing Team and also served as the Europe Liaison for the Healthcare Technologies Team, and the Co-Regional Coordinator of the Education Team.  Barbara speaks Italian and some Spanish. She lives in Virginia and has two daughters.

Douglas Levin is the Executive Director of the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA). Founded in 2001, SETDA is the national member association that represents the interests of the educational technology leadership of state and territorial education agencies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. SETDA members work collectively and in public-private partnerships to ensure that meaningful technology innovations with broad potential for systemic improvements and cost-savings in teaching, learning, leadership are brought to scale.
