Dr. Yong Zhao is an internationally known scholar, author, and speaker. His works focus on the implications of globalization and technology on education. He has designed schools that cultivate global competence, developed computer games for language learning, and founded research and development institutions to explore innovative education models. He has published over 100 articles and 20 books, including Catching Up or Leading the Way: American Education in the Age of Globalization and World Class Learners: Educating Creative and Entrepreneurial Students. He is a recipient of the Early Career Award from the American Educational Research Association and was named one of the 2012 10 most influential people in educational technology by the Tech & Learn Magazine. He is an elected fellow of the International Academy for Education.

Before joining Scholastic in 2007, she worked in Corporate Communications at Reuters. Outside of work, Morgan is also an advisory board member of the nonprofit Girls Write Now and an author of teen fiction.

John Conner is the principal author and Series Editor of the Breaking the Barrier Series, a Spanish and French language textbook company. Originally written 15 years ago out of frustration over a lack of suitable textbooks for his own classes, Breaking the Barrier has grown to offer a complete suite of Spanish and French language programs including a new line of iBooks Textbooks available on the iPad.  John remains an active teacher, having taught Spanish since 1981 at Groton School in Massachusetts where he is also the Dean of Faculty. John has worked as a consultant to the College Board for the Advanced Placement program and served on the Test Development Committee for the Spanish AP Language and Literature Examinations. Currently he writes a monthly column, Hablando de Gramática, for the popular magazine Think Spanish. A devoted classroom teacher, an enthusiastic advocate for his professional colleagues, and a lively public speaker, John presents his popular workshop, “The Ideal Lesson Plan – Ten Steps to Total Fluency” to teachers from coast to coast.

Deb Delisle was nominated by President Obama (January 2012) & confirmed by the US Senate (April 2012) as Assistant Secretary for Elementary & Secondary Education at the Department of Education.  In this role, she plays a pivotal role as principal adviser to the US Secretary of Education on all matters related to pre-k, elementary & secondary education as well as directing, coordinating & recommending policy for programs designed to assist state & local educational agencies with improving elementary & secondary school student achievement.  Prior to joining the Department, Delisle served as Ohio’s 35th State Superintendent of Public Instruction (2008 – 2011) where she lead successful application for the US Department of Education’s Race to the Top Program, which secured $400 million to boost student achievement through innovative programs  & numerous statewide reforms.  Deb has received several honors & awards highlighting her creativity and innovation to her calling & service as an educator.
